The owners are friendly, and breakfast was fine. They serve soft-boiled eggs with handmade covers instead of fried eggs, which was a sweet touch. From the courtyard, the building looks like several private houses joined into one. The hotel is small and right in the town center. Room 19 was for one person. The bathroom was okay apart from the limescale and a very dirty shower head. It only worked with a jet so strong it hurt, and the water flow regulator didn't work. The towels were thin, hard, and well below hotel standards. The bed was awful: its low, uncomfortable mattress and loud creaking kept waking me. The old, thin pillows were misshapen, and even with two of them, I couldn't arrange them comfortably for reading or sleeping. I slept very badly in room 19.

Our original hotel canceled our reservation, so we were offered a room here. The staff were so friendly and helpful that they made our stay very enjoyable. Breakfast was hearty, and the restaurant served delicious Styrian food. There’s a lovely garden and a large vegetable patch, and we saw the chef picking fresh produce to cook with. The room itself was small, quite hot, and not well insulated against noise, but we still had a good stay.

The location, staff, and rooms were all good. Just be aware there’s no air conditioning, and with the window open, the main street gets terribly noisy. The place can be confusing.
