Gutwinski

We came back to Gutwinski in August after several years away, staying two nights because we remembered it so fondly. This review is mostly about the restaurant. On our first evening, six of us from the extended family had dinner on the lovely outdoor patio on a warm summer night. The appetizers, mains, and drinks were all very good. Since we ordered quite late, we twice checked that we could still order dessert and were told to take our time. But the waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. When we tried to order dessert, we were told the kitchen had closed. Our earlier question was brushed off, with the explanation that the desserts would get cold as the cook was leaving. That made no sense, since 90% of the desserts on the menu are cold anyway. Breakfast service had the same poor attitude as closing time approached. Afterward, we weren’t welcomed and were indirectly made to feel we should leave. It was a real disappointment. The friendly hospitality and good guest service we’ve experienced across Austria were missing. If you want to be the top dog, you need to do much better.
