Hostel Feldkirch

The father and son who run the hotel were lovely and helped us a lot. I’m 16, and my friend is 17. This was the only place we could stay without our parents, as long as we had an authorization. We also found the building beautiful, the rooms clean and cozy, and the breakfast really good and affordable, with plenty to choose from. It’s hard to find places this cheap in these countries, so the stay was amazing. The area isn’t especially pretty, and it’s a 20-minute walk to the centrum, though the walk isn’t too difficult. Our Catalonia credit card wasn’t accepted by the payment machine, so we had to walk 25 minutes to another place to get cash. Still, it was one of my best hostel experiences! I’d recommend it to young people looking for somewhere to stay while hiking in the area. Feldkirch is a beautiful village too!

The staff were super friendly, and the night was quiet. I wasn’t sure this hostel would suit families, despite what some reviews said, but we saw a couple of families at breakfast. Good restaurants are only a short walk away. Staying here was a real treat!

It’s a charming medieval building, with a decent self-catering kitchen, though it feels rather brutal. You don’t need youth hostel membership. The location is fairly convenient, not far from Feldkirch rail station, but Google Maps makes it look closer than it is. The route is completely flat and quite smooth. I strongly recommend choosing an en-suite if one’s available, since the shared bathrooms don’t stay clean for long. It’s definitely pricey: €62 without breakfast for a very small private room with no bathroom or sink, where you have to make the bed and pull it out yourself, doesn’t feel like good value anywhere.
