The owner was kind and quick to help, and even took €50 off our bill, which did improve the stay. Still, three nights in apartment A21 cost €550, or €180 a night, and that felt far too expensive for what we got. Even with everything working, the value for money would have been poor. We were there for three nights on the second floor. The day we arrived, the apartment wasn't properly clean: the extractor fan was filthy and cobwebs were scattered around. The freezer was iced over, and the refrigerator was dripping with water inside and out. One stove burner shorted the electricity when we tried to cook, leaving us with two small burners and one large one. The kitchen also lacked potholders, dish towels, and a sharp knife. In both bedrooms a bed slat was loose, and in one room only one of four lamps worked. There wasn't an information folder or phone number in the apartment. Each time something came up, I had to walk to the guesthouse in the neighboring building, down two flights and about 50 meters each way. The owner responded promptly: he defrosted the fridge, cleaned again, and brought us two dish towels and a sharp knife. He also offered us apartment A3 on the ground floor the next day. We turned it down because, aside from the stovetop, things were mostly fine by then, and A21's two double beds and bunk bed suited us much better than A3's double bed in the living/dining area and two single beds in a small room. On departure day, we noticed the kitchen sink drain was leaking. For €180 a night, the apartment should be more modern and better equipped, with a TV and instructions, a proper kitchen, an information booklet, clean and working fixtures, a larger bathroom with shower doors that work, insect screens in the bedrooms, towel hooks in the bathroom, entryway wardrobe hooks, and repairs made during our stay. The outdoor area should also be kept up if it's advertised: the pool, and broken things like the swing and large trampoline, need attention or removal.
