HANNESHOF

I was travelling solo, but I’d still highly recommend Hotel Hanneshof to groups and families. My room was just right for one person, and while the shower was a little small, it wasn’t a major issue. The half-board meals were a bonus. I honestly ate more than ever and tried so many new dishes during my stay. Staff were always around and helpful with questions. The restaurant team made an effort to personalise each guest’s stay, and Family Mayr at reception handled every question easily. The pool was especially welcome on quieter days when I didn’t hike as much, and the wellness area was a great place to relax.

The sauna area was peaceful and nicely decorated, with three different types of sauna. The pool wasn’t big, but it was enough for a swim. We had spacious, traditionally decorated rooms with very comfortable beds. The blackout curtains worked well, and from our third-floor balcony we could see the church and hear the nearby river. Dinner was enjoyable, with three main choices each evening, usually meat, fish, or vegetarian. Breakfast had an excellent selection, though the espresso could be better. We booked two rooms directly in August after getting a list from the tourisme office, and were offered a great rate for four nights. The small, cozy hotel is right in the heart of Filzmoos. About 75% of the staff were friendly and attentive, a solid result given Austria’s severe shortage of skilled hospitality workers, which can make consistent service difficult. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return.

The Filzmoos Sommer Card added a lot of value, with free cable car rides, buses, pool access, and even guided hikes. It’s also easy to get around on foot, with the gondola station, village shops, and walking trails all a short walk away. Our room was cozy and quiet, with a great mountain view. The staff were kind, helpful, and welcoming, and the clean wellness area had an indoor pool, saunas, and a steam room. It was relaxing and never too crowded, just right after hiking. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, with local dishes, fresh ingredients, and plenty of variety as part of half board. Service was thoughtful without being pushy. We had an amazing stay at Resort Hanneshof in Filzmoos and will definitely come back. Highly recommend it for a relaxing holiday in nature in the Austrian Alps.

It was a pleasant stay overall. The room could use brighter lights for reading, and the spa hours didn’t really work for us.
