We come back every year, and always wish the day had more hours. The family who runs the hotel has a real eye for detail, right down to its lovely branding. It’s beautiful, the food is awesome, the service is lovely, and the wellness area is relaxing. It’s family friendly, too. The kids have great caregivers and their own area, so you hardly see them around the hotel.

We don’t stay at the hotel, but came in for dinner one evening and were really impressed. The food was fabulous and the service attentive and professional. It wasn’t cheap, but the quality and the whole experience were fantastic. Highly recommended.

The hotel’s location was great, and the people were kind enough to send us off with a lovely loaf of bread and homemade jam. That was a thoughtful gift, even though a number of things during our stay bothered me. There are two parts of the hotel, one rated four stars and one three. We booked through a third party and paid four star prices, but got a three star room. I know that booking choice wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but the room really was poor. There was no lotion in the bathroom, the shower was tiny, and the bed was old with the worst pillows I’ve ever slept on. We weren’t keen on the dinner buffet. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t clear whether we could order à la carte, and I would have preferred to try the local steak. Breakfast started at 7:00, and we arrived at 7:05. Everything was out except the scrambled eggs and sausage. We waited until 7:25, then asked a cook, who said they don’t make scrambled eggs until 7:30 and offered to make some for us. There was no sign explaining that. We’d waited ages and got an answer with an attitude that made it seem obvious they were made at 7:30. A sign would have helped, or someone noticing us waiting and asking if we needed anything. I wasn’t impressed.

The old room was very dated, with green carpet, old bathrooms and furniture that looked as old as I am. Still, it was very clean. The newer rooms are just as nice as the lobby. We liked the warm welcome, friendly staff, and the free afternoon cake and coffee. My rating is a hard one to settle on. I booked through CHECK24.de and didn’t realize it had reserved the cheaper room category. I also didn’t know the stay was all-inclusive, with a dinner buffet, which isn’t really what I want at a four star hotel.
