We’re definitely coming back to Hotel Unterhof. The rooms and beds were comfortable, the cocktails were good, and the food was delicious every day. Dinner was served as a menu with an appetizer, salad, soup, one main course from three choices, and dessert. The whole team was kind and polite, and the owner/director always had a smile and a few words for us. This is THE dog-friendly hotel, and dogs were even welcome in a separate dining area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Unterhof doesn’t take part in the Filzmoos winter card, and that really affected guests. The card gives big discounts on ski rentals and ski school, access to the swimming pool at the leisure centre, and free ice skating. We spent hundreds of Euros extra, with no compensation or explanation from the hotel. Local businesses suggested it might be politically motivated because the owner disliked the new mayor, but I can’t know if that’s true. In any case, customers pay the price for the hotel not joining the scheme. We’ll return to one of the other lovely hotels we’ve stayed at in Ski Amade over the past two years. We had a lovely weeklong family ski holiday at Unterhof. It’s sparkling clean, has good amenities, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic and not especially set up for families beyond a sofa bed for the kids. Other hotels in this price range offer a separate small bunk bedroom connected to the main room. Some little charges felt stingy. Tap water at dinner costs extra for kids and adults, and omelettes cost extra at breakfast even though breakfast is included. Oddly, a one egg omelette has a different price from a two egg one.

The rooms were quiet at night, tidy, and very clean. The set menu was excellent every time, and we could swap items when we wanted. The sauna and spa have a lovely mountain view. It’s a cozy, modern hotel, and the front desk and restaurant staff were always really nice, helpful, and quick.

The staff have been excellent, and the rooms are a good size. Some shared areas look dated, though I think that adds character rather than being a real criticism. The hotel sits on the main road into and out of Filzmoos, so the location isn’t ideal, but traffic wasn’t too intrusive.
