The wellness area is modern and very good, though it’s open until 7:00 PM and the sauna and steam room are already switched off and cooling down by 6:30. Slippers aren’t provided. There’s also a surcharge for the ski lockers at the lift, with no place in the hotel to store ski gear instead, so there isn’t much choice. Underground parking is available for €18 a day. Breakfast is tasty and has a wide selection, but timing matters. It runs from 7:30 to 10:30, and by 9:00 half the mango, grapes and melon, along with tomato-mozzarella and salmon, were gone and weren’t replenished. Dinner could be very good or quite disappointing, and the service varied too. Arriving an hour after dinner starts also meant a lot was gone, including tomato-mozzarella, sushi and ham with melon, with no refills. The hotel dog was very cute, but it walks around the restaurant and might even relieve itself there. I can understand that not replenishing food may be part of a “no waste” approach, but the hotel also has two outdoor pools that use a lot of energy. For me, the price and quality don’t quite match, so I wouldn’t rush to recommend this hotel.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely interior design, but the food and beverage experience was disappointing and far too expensive. The wine list is impressive, though the prices feel like a rip-off. Tap water at dinner averaged about 6 euros per litre. The food looks modern, but portions are very small and don’t suit the average age group in the market. Service staff were average, and the so-called “restaurant manager” didn’t come across as charismatic or as having leadership skills. She is from the Dominican Republic/Netherland, and dealing with her left me wondering if she was more of a hostess.

After seven summer stays, I still highly recommend this brilliant hotel. It’s perfectly organised, with very nice rooms, and it sits next to the silvretta bergbahn, making it ideal for hikes. In summer, cable lifts are free throughout the valley, and there are easy, free bus transfers to galtur/see/kappl. The meals are excellent, with plenty of signature dishes, including tuna tataki and lamb filet. It’s nice to see experienced staff coaching the younger team. This family-run hotel also seems like a good employer, which matters too.

The friendly staff and good breakfast buffet with lots of options were highlights, but I found the stay uncomfortable and not relaxing. Dinner took a very long time, and the portions were tiny, lukewarm and sometimes looked dry, as if the plates had been prepared earlier. Room styles varied a lot. Some of us had very dated rooms, while others had very modern ones. The spa area was small, and people saved chairs by leaving bags on them, even though the relaxation room was empty apart from bags. The pool was small and the water very, very cold. The hotel is expensive and, in my view, doesn’t deliver comfort.

Hotel Tirol gives us that perfect holiday feeling every time, thanks to the very friendly employees, beautiful rooms and wellness facilities. We really love it here. The lounge with its fireplace and the great food in the cozy restaurant are lovely too. It’s the best hotel we’ve stayed at in Austria.
