St. Martins Therme & Lodge

We had a suite in the Lodge with a jacuzzi and loved our stay. The spa is a great place to get away from everyday stress, and dogs are welcome too. They even have a dog park with a swimming pond, although dogs can't go into the spa itself. The only things we missed were a coffee machine or kettle in the suite and another one or two large towels. Otherwise, full marks. The food and everything else were great, and our dogs loved it as much as we did. We'll definitely come back.

Dinner was the highlight of our stay, with really high-quality food. Breakfast had a fairly standard selection, but it was delicious and good quality too. The room looked lovely and the bed was very comfortable, though the shower was disappointing: weak water flow and a temperature that kept changing. The Therme itself felt underwhelming. There are lots of pools, but almost all are similar, warm and not very deep; only one, with salts and minerals, felt a bit different. The massage was underwhelming as well. A couple of things caught us off guard. The sauna areas are nude and this is enforced, but the website doesn't make it clear. We only found out when someone told us to leave the sauna and take off our swim trunks. We were alone in there, so we're not sure how he even saw us. Also, most signs are only in German, which is worth knowing if you don't speak it. The so-called safari tour is really just a drive around nearby areas, including a few small protected nature spots. Birdwatchers might enjoy it, but otherwise I wouldn't bother. If you're planning to stay at st martins lodge, I'd keep it to 1-2 nights, enjoy the food, and be comfortable with the nude sauna rules.

The winter thermal pool area felt cramped, and the price doesn't match the amenities. All the loungers are in one row, so getting to your spot means walking down the whole aisle. If you're at chair 40, chair 1 is the only entrance, so every trip feels like a fashion runway. There's no other way through and hardly any space. You're lying right next to a stranger close enough to hear them breathing calmly. The changing room has a view too, thanks to a door with a two-finger-wide hole right in the middle. There's no drinking water fountain or area. Need water? Go to the pool or restroom. Well, there is a restaurant.

The only thing I liked was the cleanliness. For what this hotel costs, what they offer doesn't come close, so the value for money is 0/5. The hotel and spa need a full renovation. The rooms and hotel feel very old and have a distinctive smell. The food is bland and tasteless, even though they try to make the presentation look nice.
