Hanserhof

The place is just okay. There are dozens of dead animals and skulls on the walls, and nobody speaks even a word of English. They keep talking in German without seeming to care. Payments have to be made in cash, despite the booking site saying credit cards are accepted. The building is also a slaughterhouse, so live and dead cows and horses often pass by your window on their way to “the room”.

After a long day skiing, I spent a night at Hanserhof and was very well looked after. The farm is rustic, cozy, and traditionally furnished, just right for a mountain holiday. The very hospitable lady who runs the accommodation was helpful and shared great insider tips for restaurants nearby. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with lots of products from their own farm. I really enjoyed the short stay and would gladly return when I’m in the Zillertal. With more and more big hotels taking over tourism, places like this are getting rare. A clear recommendation. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and we had a decent stay, though quite a few things could be better. The apartment looked like the photos and was clean when we arrived. The balcony could have been tidier. We couldn’t clean during our stay, but the staff kindly lent us a vacuum cleaner. For a longer visit, a small cleaning kit would be useful. Wi-Fi only works in the breakfast room, so keep that in mind before booking. With so many mosquitoes, fly screens on at least one window in each room would help. Some handles were loose, including the refrigerator handle and a few door handles. The payment process was a hassle. The deposit hadn’t been verified, and we had to provide proof of payment ourselves. The playground is partly broken and not very child-friendly overall. The dark hallway, with all the stuffed animals, feels dated and could scare children.
