Hotel Donnerhof

The breakfast was amazing, and we all had a great time using the pool. Hotel Donnerhof is lovely, with wonderful service and a great location. I’ve just come back from a week there with my wife and our two children. We’ll be back. Thank you.

The owner was very kind, but his wife? She was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered. She got angry when guests complained and seemed to make things up for some reason. The place was badly understaffed. I really felt for the new girl who had to handle the whole night on her own. The ski equipment room was left unlocked, so anyone could come and go, and it had no heating at all. Ski boots cost $400 a pair, mind you. Some dinners weren’t served, with no advance warning, even though the website says they’re included. That wasn’t just my opinion, but I guess everyone else was afraid to say so. I’m not :) Seriously, look for another hotel if you want an OK experience.

Parking was ample, with space for around 20 cars or more, and there’s a small indoor-outdoor pool, table tennis, and an indoor play area for kids. We had a clean room with a beautiful view, and it was cleaned and refreshed daily. We stayed at Donnerhof during our February 2024 ski trip in Stubai. The hotel feels cozy, the hosts, Elisabeth and her husband Mario, were really friendly, and we had plenty to chat about. Breakfast had lots of choices for different tastes. We’d definitely come back to Stubai.

There’s no restaurant at the hotel, and drinks at the bar cost more than anywhere else, even up on the mountains. The pool isn’t heated, which is disappointing when that’s why I chose a hotel with an indoor-outdoor pool. The kids only manage a few minutes before warming up in the shower and giving up. The sauna area is cold too, so nobody stays there to read, relax, or meet others. If you plan to use anything beyond the room and breakfast, like the pool, sauna, bar, or a restaurant, choose another hotel in Fulpmes.
