The food is top quality, very fresh and tasty. I strongly recommend having it with local white wine, and giving the beer a miss this time unless that's all you came for. Try a Tirol dish you haven't had before, even if the name doesn't tell you much or you're worried it might be "scottish style :)". The choices include local fish, lots of dumplings and meat. It's definitely hearty food, but that's mountain dining in winter. Walk another 30 minutes and you'll be back to zero calories. I'm talking about the restaurant with a terrace out front, not the hotel or Gasthof. Inside the restaurant and in the shared areas, the style is very "local stylish", clean and tight. In winter the view from the restaurant terrace is simply MAGNIFICENT, as you can see in the attached photo. Grobenhof is about a 20-30 minute walk from the last tram stop in Fulpmes. It's a great trip from Innsbruck: take the tram from the city all the way to Fulpmes, the mountain resort. Sorry, I forgot the tram number. It only runs once an hour, so plan your trip carefully. Don't worry too much about the price. An extra 5-10Eur won't make a difference, and I believe you'll be thinking about this trip and place when you're back home. Five stars without a doubt! The food was good, which makes the rest of the experience a pity. Service was awful. Right after our last bite of the main course, we were pushed to order coffee and dessert, and weren't given time to finish our wine. The kitchen closes at 8pm, but no one mentioned this when we booked for 7:30 pm. We didn't feel welcome because of where we're from, as we're not Austrian. The whole visit was ruined by the awful service.

We didn't see the rooms. The food was good, but we wouldn't recommend the place because the service was poor. When we arrived, ours was only the third occupied table, but nobody came to us for at least 10 minutes. Paying took three calls for someone to come over, and the waiter was almost rude.

I've stopped here several times for some nice pie 😋. The place has a more upper class look, but hikers are made to feel welcome too. The staff are friendly, and the homemade cake/pie is great 👍

That photo from the room window is still on my wall, blown up to 20x 30, and it keeps reminding me I need to return. I first came here ten years ago and have loved every visit. Elizabeth makes the place feel warm and welcoming, and her husband is a wonderful chef. The two of them create such a relaxing atmosphere that you leave wanting to come back. It's been a few years now, but I hope to make it this autumn.
