BS-Ötscher Hotel

Breakfast and dinner were excellent, easily the best part of the stay. The hotel is older and hasn’t had a major renovation, though it was clean. Staff speak German, English and Hungarian, and the heating worked fine. Wi-Fi was weak. The sauna had towels but no sheets, and there were showers but no pool or cold-water tub. The website says the pool is open from 10am, but it actually opens at 4pm.

We had a great time during our three nights here with the family. The hosts were kind and straightforward, and the rooms were okay. After skiing, the sauna and pool were really nice. The short drive to the slopes was worth it. Honestly, the dinners alone made the trip worthwhile, and breakfast was plentiful and delicious too.

The food was great, and we were looked after so well during our three days here. The owners were kind, the surroundings beautiful, and the wellness area was relaxing, with a clean sauna and an excellent swimming pool. We’d like to come back next time and have already recommended it to friends. Thank you for everything! R.Monika

The room was where our good mood ended. There were vomit stains on the carpet, a cracked sink, bathroom drawers coming loose, no toilet paper, a broken TV remote and bedside lamp, and bathrobes full of holes. Dinner was my deal-breaker. We were squeezed shoulder to shoulder with 12 other people at one long table in a cafeteria-like room. It was impossible to eat without bumping into strangers. The returned plates and unappetizing buffet put us off, so we went to bed hungry. We skipped breakfast too, not wanting more crowding and pushing around the mini-buffet. We’d come expecting a quiet, relaxing weekend in snowy Lackenhof. Arrival was fine and the welcome was friendly, but the reception details made us wonder if we’d booked the wrong place: the advertised sauna and indoor pool only opened at 4pm, dinner ran from 6 to 7:30pm, and breakfast wasn’t until 8am.
