The best parts were how clean everything was and how incredibly friendly everyone was. The place is centrally located, just a few minutes' walk from the main shopping street, with the train station, post office, shopping center, and small shops nearby. Parking is available in front of the house. The catch is that it's up a hill, so walking back after going down to town takes some effort. I stayed here more than 10 years ago, so I can't say whether anything has changed. It was a nice, small bed and breakfast spread over three floors, with lots of stairs and no elevator. The upper rooms would have been difficult for older people or anyone with hip problems. My single room was tiny and very cramped, especially for anyone significantly overweight. There was barely room to sit on the toilet without bumping my elbows, and the shower was difficult to use because it was so small. Aside from the tight space, it was well and practically furnished. There was a spacious wardrobe, TV, desk, two chairs, and a telephone. The balcony was quiet and had a great view and beautiful, fragrant flowers. Sun loungers and cushions were provided, though they were quite old. The decor was older and rustic, with lots of wood, but everything was very clean.

The area is beautiful and quiet, and the breakfast was very good when I stayed in 2019/2020. Everyone was friendly, and families with children or dogs are very welcome. I'd recommend it and might return in 2021. The town center is a few minutes' walk away. The Bad Gastein train station is 250 meters downhill, the Kodel cable car is 255 meters away, and a Spar supermarket 260 meters away is open Monday to Sunday. You can also reach the center via the Bad Gastein parking garage, taking the lift from the 10th floor down to the building's basement. There's plenty to do nearby, including hiking, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, paragliding, and snowshoeing. Parking is available too. Via the Matstraße road, you can get to Sportgastein and then Villach (Carinthia). That's a 30-45 minute drive, a 2-3 hour hike, or a 60-minute bike ride. There's also a bus to Villach, or you can take the train to Villach or Salzburg main station...

Clean and simple accommodation, a good breakfast, and very friendly staff. The lift station and railway station are within walking distance, though the walk has a little uphill stretch. 👍
