The mountain setting is gorgeous, and parking was easy. For the restaurant, go through the corner patio door and wait to be seated. They have an English menu if you ask. The servers were friendly and professional. When you’re ready to pay, ask for the bill bitte (please), and say “carte” if you need the card machine. Welan Dunke! Guten Apetit! I had the spinach dumplings with vegetables. The dumplings were bread-based, mixed with spinach and shaped into two huge balls. They were moist and tasty, with assorted herbs and vegetables alongside. The vegetables were cooked until soft but still firm, and the light, clear sauce had what might have been parsley sprinkled over it. Just right. A bowl of salad came too, though I was so busy eating that I forgot to take a photo. It had greens and sprouts on top, with fresh-made saurkraut, grated carrots and thinly sliced cucumbers underneath. It was refreshing between bites and lovely by itself, too. One woman across from me said her meat dish was excellent, and she’s Austrian. This is a great place to try classic Austrian dishes.

The rooms were really clean, the views were nice, and the staff were friendly. I loved the fabulous winerschnitzel and baked potatoes. It’s not in a big town, so there isn’t a choice of restaurants, but theirs is so good that I didn’t miss having one.

The food was so good, and the rooms were pretty. I stayed three nights for a work retreat, and the service was lovely throughout. There are great views and walks in every direction. I’d happily return.

I especially loved the Spinat Knödel, though you really can’t go wrong with what you order. Steinerwirt made my spring day feel special, with lovely outdoor seating and a beautiful interior. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, too. The staff were accommodating and full of smiles, and the kind service and beautiful scenery made my vacation better. I’m one American who’ll definitely come back and tell her friends.
