The place looks really nice, but I never got to stay there because they hadn’t written down my booking and cancelled it. Luckily, I called the day before to check everything was okay, so I didn’t have to make the trip just to find out I had no room.

The area is lovely for walks and long mountain hikes, and it’s a paradise for cyclists and skiers. There’s a clear turquoise river where you can swim, plus a pool and a great children’s park about 1.5 km away. The garden has a pond, a shaded spot with folding loungers, and a play area for children. Pets are welcome, too. The hostess speaks Polish. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, and you can order dinner from an extensive menu and make various requests. Their cuisine is clearly one reason guests keep coming back. The guesthouse is run by the owners’ second generation, who know what they’re doing. It’s a large property with an elevator up to the second floor, though unfortunately it doesn’t reach the third and top floor. That wasn’t a major inconvenience for us. Parking beside the guesthouse is included in the price. Our room and bathroom were clean, with a big comfortable bed, chairs, and a sofa.

The breakfast was lovely, and the half-board was excellent. We were very comfortable at Grünauhof, with clean, pleasant rooms and warm, welcoming hosts. Beautiful Grünau in the Almtal valley gives us plenty of reasons to come back. (Insider tip 💚)
