Das Haus am See

The room layout was lovely, and the location is fantastic. My husband and I spent two weeks here for our honeymoon, but we were very disappointed by the poor attention to hygiene and cleanliness. The house had a strong damp, musty smell. There was mold on the ceiling and in the shower grout, as well as dirt and mold in the refrigerator seal. The coffee machine was moldy, with old grounds that looked as though they had been left there for weeks. The kettle smelled terrible and hadn't been cleaned, while the oven had burnt-on food residue. The dishes in the cupboard were greasy and dirty, so we had to wash them before using them. There were problems elsewhere, too. The guest bathroom's toothbrush holder still had the previous guest's lip marks on top and limescale and dirt underneath. Its electrical outlet was loose in the wall, which didn't seem very childproof. Nails sticking out of the guest-room closet could catch on clothes. In the main bathroom, brown, crumbly material was falling from the ceiling, perhaps woodworm. The sofa-bed covers had stains and other people's hair on them. Despite the beautiful view and friendly people, the stay was unpleasant and we weren't satisfied. I hope conditions improve for future tenants.
