Auenhof

The mountain setting is hard to beat, and the little playground is just a short walk away. We were here in the second week of July 2025 with our two children, and easy hiking paths begin right behind the accommodation, which worked well for the kids. We especially enjoyed the walk to St. Magdalena. It only takes a few hours and doesn’t require much mountain experience; if the hut is open, there’s tasty food and refreshing drinks at the top. The neighboring valleys also offer plenty to explore if you need more ideas. This was our fourth holiday at Auenhof in Gschnitz, and we’ve had a wonderful time every visit. The place is always spotless, and the host is warm, helpful, and knows the region inside out, with lots of suggestions for hikes and activities. We’ll definitely return.

The apartment was a lucky choice in the low season, since we could shop at the supermarket and cook when we found that 98% of restaurants were closed. That was a real letdown: we’d hoped to eat well and visit mountain huts after hikes, and none of that worked out, in Gschnitz or the nearby towns. The house itself is gorgeous, in a peaceful, stunning location with lovely trails for walking and biking. Bring kitchen basics like salt, coffee, and tea bags, as well as bathroom supplies. They provide only two towels and two larger shower towels, and no shower amenities.

The apartment is roomy and clean, with modern furnishings and a well equipped kitchen that even has a dishwasher. There’s Wi-Fi, a TV, and a lovely balcony, plus a cot and highchair for families with children. The surroundings are beautiful, with wonderful mountain views. A really nice holiday apartment.
