Schlaffass - Schlafen im Holzfass Thallern

It was freezing, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here in winter. The heating didn’t keep up, and the blankets were paper-thin. Over two days, we couldn’t get a shower because the bathroom and water were both too cold. The only toilet was a field toilet a long way away. I paid €172.05 for two nights, which was far too much. It shouldn’t cost more than €40 a night. Never again!

We’ll definitely stop here again when we’re passing through. This wine-producing farm is just outside Wien, with its own restaurant, good-quality food, and amazing staff. After a good night’s sleep in a wine barrel, I came out more mature and flavourful. 😄

Don’t come! The wooden barrel room is tiny, and there’s no bath inside. The bath is outside, with no hot water. The field toilets are outside too, with no water, you cover things with wood chips. There’s no Wi-Fi in the barrel room, and the train passes very close by and makes noise.

We had an easy visit in mid-October, with a smooth check-in and very good train connections. The garden is lovely, and the view is beautiful. The bathroom felt a bit unhygienic, and we didn’t expect the barrels to get so cold, we were freezing at night. Bring warm clothes!
