The good parts were the generous, tasty food, the attentive cleaning staff, and the setting by the river. We stayed for a week, and I was eight months pregnant. At check-in, I learned that the room I'd booked had a shared bathroom. I explained the booking mistake and offered to pay extra for a room with its own bathroom, especially given my condition. I was told bluntly that it couldn't be done because every room was occupied. I only got the upgrade after showing Lisa that the guesthouse's own website said a private-bathroom room would be free midweek. I know the booking error was mine, but I'd never come across a 3-star hotel with rooms without private bathrooms. The only shower available was in the spa, shared by men and women and completely open, without even a curtain. Lisa seemed irritated whenever we asked for anything, including basic check-in information like late-night access and how to use the Wi-Fi. She also spoke sharply to us over small things, such as using the wrong salad plate on our first evening. Andrea at reception was kinder, though unfortunately she wasn't fluent in English. By the end, we felt unwelcome and almost like outsiders throughout the stay. It's a real pity, since more care with hospitality could bring the guesthouse in line with the quality it already has in other areas.
