4 Rest Hotel

A family was waiting in the entrance for over an hour in the icy winter weather because reception closes at 8pm and the self check-in wasn't working. They'd called the emergency number and were still waiting for someone from the outsourced security company to come deal with it. Earlier, my own check-in had already been a mess: I arrived at 3pm, spent time entering all our details into a machine, then it failed and told me to call an Austrian number. There was actually a real person further inside who could have checked me in from the start. Before arriving, my booking had been hacked and I'd received several WhatsApp phishing attempts. The hackers apparently now know my name and address as well as my booking details. Later, a high-pitched alarm went off in my room for minutes. A red light was flashing in the corridor, and other guests were opening their doors to see what was happening. I called the security company in Vienna, though I didn't say whether I thought there was any safety risk. They said they'd send someone. About 15 minutes later, the noise stopped and we could go to bed. The room itself was fine, clean, with comfortable beds and a decent bathroom. The mountain view could also be called a highway view or a used tyre deposit view. The staff were pleasant, but the rest of the experience might not be. The parking cost €10, even though one of the first reviews on the booking site I used had said it was free. This is a place only accessible by car, and where space isn't an issue. After what happened, I'd choose somewhere else if I planned the trip again. My takeaway is not to rely too much on automation. Machines don't always work, and a hotel needs a person there.

The location worked well for us since we had a car. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the rooms were nice. Breakfast was good and included gluten-free options. The only downside was the bathroom floor, which was wet after showering.

The location in an industrial area meant there wasn’t much around, though a store was only a 3-5 minute walk away. What bothered me more was how impersonal and chilly the welcome felt, and at this price I wouldn’t stay again. The room was tiny and cold. The blanket made me sweat, but without it I was freezing, so I couldn’t sleep well. There was no kettle or hot water, and reception was empty from about 10 PM until morning, so there was no way to get tea in the evening or coffee early.

The view from my room was great, and the spacious, comfortable room made for a pleasant stay. The heater could have worked better, but otherwise I found the hotel decent and the stay satisfactory.
