The location worked well for us, close enough to Graz’s old city and handy as a base for heading into the countryside or farther around Austria. Don Camillo downstairs served very good, fresh food and had a lovely wine list. There’s also a Spar across the street for essentials and things to keep in the mini-fridge. Our Premium studio was spacious and comfortable. The freezer compartment was badly frosted and its door was broken, but scraping off the frost made it usable during our stay. Staff were happy to arrange maintenance when I mentioned it. They were friendly and accommodating too, even filling this Texan’s water bottle with ice every day without a fuss. Breakfast was fresh and typical Austrian fare. There’s no coffee in the room, but there is a kettle, and we bought instant coffee at the market next door.

The final mix-up was especially unpleasant. After checkout, the receptionist ran out to our car saying we still owed money, first asking for another 47 euros, though it turned out to be only 7 euros. We also had trouble with the drink machines: one was out of order, and the other kept our money, so we had to go back to reception to get the wine we’d paid for. Our receptionist was polite and kind, but seemed inexperienced and disorganized. After we said the QUEENSIZE bed wouldn’t work for us and our 5-year-old daughter, we were moved to a room with a normal double bed. The original bed was only 120 cm wide, smaller than a standard double, and wasn’t suitable for three. Unfortunately, the new room was opposite the laundry room, where people could wash and dry clothes at any hour, and we could hear the noise. The central air conditioner hummed all night even with ours turned off. The elevator smelled strongly of pee. Never again, I don’t recommend it.

We arrived at 4 PM and the room still wasn’t ready, so we went out for dinner. When we came back at 8 PM, it was still unprepared. They offered to let us stay in it without cleaning up after the previous guests. Absolutely disgusting.

The location was ideal for seeing Graz, and the breakfast was okay. We stayed three nights as a family in a standard room. It was very clean and had everything we needed, though it wasn’t very big and had no kitchen area, which we already knew. I can’t think of anything else negative. Maybe the heater, which is the AC, was a little loud when switched on. I’d definitely recommend it.
