The rooms were quite OK, but I wouldn't call this a hotel. You get a room, pick up the key from an Airbnb-style lockbox, and that's where the service ends. There was no one at reception to answer questions or deal with possible problems. The pool and saunas were only open from 4 to 7 p.m., just three hours for more than 150 guests, so it was crowded. They advertise free Wi-Fi throughout, but during our stay we could connect to the network without getting any internet. Customer service said there were too many people in the hotel. That was obviously a lie, and why should that be my problem anyway? I also went to the restaurant to borrow a knife to cut fruit for my kids, and they refused. This was my worst stay in the Austrian mountains, and I've been to many places there many times. They seem focused only on keeping costs down and making a profit, with no care for guests' comfort.

The hotel is in a nice location and has a lot going for it at first glance, but it felt superficial, and I wouldn't return. Inside, the recent renovation looks very nice, and the staff were friendly and hardworking. My single room was separated from the neighboring room by only a thin wall and a door that didn't close tightly. I could hear everything my neighbor did at night, and light from his room came through. I barely slept: he watched TV past 10 p.m., then snored loudly and kept the lights on until 2 a.m. I called reception, but nothing was done to help me get some quiet. As a solo female traveler, I found the lack of privacy very distressing. Dinner was poor value, too. I ordered Kasenudeln from the main menu for €18.50 and got three dumplings, the most expensive I've ever eaten. The waitress pointed me to the salad buffet, which I assumed was included with the nudels, but I was charged extra. They were described as grandma's nudels, and I feel sorry for anyone with grandmothers that mean in this region. After hiking all day, I expected a proper meal at the hotel, but it felt more like fine dining. The nudels weren't tasty enough to justify €6 each. What a shame. The spa closed at 7 p.m., and I missed it because dinner took an hour.

The river running past the hotel made such a calming sound, and the pool was wonderful. Breakfast was great, and the hospitality was exceptional.
