I love staying here, the rooms are tidy and comfortable, and it’s my favorite place in Styria and Austria. The homemade wine is great too. The food is delicious, with so much flavor, and the service is quick, friendly, and polite. I’d especially recommend the traditional Backhendl, Krautfleckerl, and Topfenpoganze for dessert. Everything is homemade.

We had dinner and really enjoyed the food and wine. The Morillon (Chardonnay) stood out, especially for the price. Great value.

We felt very comfortable here and will definitely come back. Gasthaus Koschak is a cozy traditional inn with a contemporary menu, seasonal dishes like wild garlic in spring, and something for everyone. The daily specials are posted on the bulletin board. It’s a bit tucked away from the tourist route, but well worth the trip, even from further away. The salads were fresh and well dressed in the Styrian style, with wild garlic. For something different, the Fish & Chips came as crisp breaded strips of catfish with thick fries and a delicate pumpkin seed oil mayonnaise. The fries could have been a little crispier, but I’d still recommend it. Homemade sweets included poppy seed noodles, buckwheat and quark cake (Poganze), and pumpkin parfait with either caramel or pumpkin seed oil. They serve only their own wines, so the selection is limited. A well poured 1/8 liter costs €3.90 to €5.00, and it’s worth trying them all. My favorite was the Welschriesling. I was also pleasantly surprised by the Döllerer glassware, which felt a step above what I’d expect in a traditional inn. We appreciated the large cloth napkins and that there was no cover charge. They didn’t offer a bread basket or butter, but that didn’t matter to us.
