I spent a week at the Gasteiger Guesthouse, and I wouldn't book it again. It was affordable, though not cheap, so I expected at least a clean place. The bathrooms fell well short: the silicone seals were heavily moldy, and there were mildew marks in the tile grout. Some rooms had cobwebs, and the walls clearly hadn't been painted in a long time. The room arrangement and beds weren't properly explained beforehand. There are three rooms, each with two rooms; the second room has bunk beds that aren't suitable for adults. The house has the general feel of a place from the 1970s. On the positive side, the beds, mattresses, and bedding were really good, and the kitchen seems new. That was the best part of the house. The ski bus only comes once an hour.

There were some practical pluses: parking right outside, a large, almost new kitchen with two fridges and two dishwashers, comfortable beds, and a bathroom for each room. The location was okay too, with Billa supermarket within walking distance and Hopfgarten train station right there. The landlady was nice and did her best, but the house itself needs a lot of work. The bathrooms mostly looked like they were from the 1960s, with no storage beyond a small shelf by the mirror. The wardrobes were musty and so old we didn't use them, and some were close to falling apart. Three rooms were walk-through rooms and couldn't be locked, and there was only one electrical outlet in the room. We weren't told in advance that someone else lived downstairs and on the top floor. It didn't bother us, but people booking the whole house, especially young groups wanting to party, should know. The ski and snowboard equipment had to be kept in a shed that was locked after 7 p.m. The rooms badly need repainting, and the bathrooms should be brought up to modern standards. At €4,000 a week, even though it wasn't expensive, I expected a bit more. The impression left is that the house is being run for maximum profit with little or no investment.

There was only one large table, unlike what the pictures showed, and the place could hold at most 15 pairs of ski boots. The room was a walk-through, and the toilets and showers couldn't be locked.
