ibis Innsbruck

It's close to the train station, and it was good enough for a night's rest. The old carpet's cleanliness was questionable, though luckily I had no problems. For an international hotel chain, I expected better. Keep your expectations in check.

Right beside the train and bus stations, the hotel is very conveniently placed for getting in from the airport or travelling elsewhere in Austria or Germany. My main issue was the bedding. I booked a double room and did get one actual double bed, rather than two singles pushed together, but it came with only a single duvet. That didn't cover the whole bed and got thrown around when I turned over. The pillows also felt like an awkward thickness for me: one wasn't enough, but two stacked together were too much.

We spent a couple of days here at the end of our time in Austria. The hotel is handy, right by the train station and a short walk from the main shopping and tourist areas. The room seemed a little bigger than at some other ibis hotels, which can be much smaller. The pillows, though, really are very soft.

The location is good, but the service was poor. I had a long list of complaints, so I'll keep it brief. There was no tea or coffee in the room, and I had to go to the lobby for tea. Guests had to pay for coffee. This was the only Accor hotel I've stayed at that didn't provide tea or coffee in the room. The pillow was tiny, more suited to a child than an adult. I booked for two people, but they brought only one on the third day. There wasn't enough gel in the bathroom, and I had to remind the cleaner. On my four-night stay, the key was validated for just one day, so I had to get it revalidated. This will be my last stay here, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel. About three years ago I complained because I was charged tax that wasn't included in the booking document, and I got a refund. I'm Austrian and lived in Innsbruck, so I know other hotels that provide customer service.
