Jugendherberge Innsbruck - Youth Hostel

The kitchen had no glasses, cutlery, or plates, and the coffee machine was out of order. The toilets smelled bad, the beds were too short, and the hostel felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. It wasn’t cheap, either. When I went to check out, nobody was at reception, and they still have my deposit. Check-in also meant filling out a huge online form that took a long time.

Breakfast was alright, and for the price I can see it being worth it for a night or two. The bed felt a little too thin, though, and there wasn't much room to open a cabin-size suitcase. The number of toilet cubicles also seemed a bit low for how many beds there were.

The included breakfast was one of the best parts, and the self-service kitchen was handy. We cooked in and ate out during our stay, and the Welcome card for stays of two nights or more also gave us free public transport. Our four-person room had nice bunk beds, plenty of storage, a table and four stools. It locked, and there was a lockable cupboard for valuables. The small toilet and shower for our room were across the corridor.

There was noise all night, with doors slamming and people making a racket. The rooms and bathrooms were pretty dirty, and there was only one power outlet in the room, by the door, which was inconvenient for charging devices. Check-in was a mess too. They first refused my credit card and said they only took cash, then sent me to an ATM that had no cash. When I asked about another nearby option, they agreed to try the card again, and it worked. It was a really poor, disappointing stay.
