Barbara made us feel right at home, and we’d definitely return. The rooms were quiet and very clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the homemade yogurt and jam and the eggs cooked just right. The cleaning lady came every day and even folded my pajamas each morning.

We stayed at Gästeheim Lederle in Jerzens for six nights in August 2019, booking a triple room for €666. By the end, we had paid €697. The owner asked for €130 in advance, which I transferred exactly as requested and confirmed with a notice from my bank. She said only €99 had arrived. After I asked about it, she acknowledged that her bank had taken €31 in fees and said I would need to cover that on top of the room price. Her message said, “The transfer must be free of charge for me. Sorry, but when you are here, you have to pay this amount.” It was frustrating, but I agreed to pay. The other problem was the sleeping arrangement. We were given a double bed and a single bed that was actually a folding sofa. We hadn’t been told beforehand that the single bed was a sofa. I slept in it the first night and woke with severe back pain after finding a large gap in the middle that made it impossible to sleep properly. When I showed the owner, she said she saw no problem and had received no complaints from other guests. She suggested one of my children use it. Our 10-and-a-half-year-old son tried the next night, couldn’t sleep, and moved to the double bed in the middle of the night. I raised the issue again the following morning. The owner repeated that there was no problem and said no other room was available. She then suggested that all three of us, me and my two sons, share the double bed. We had no choice, so we slept that way for the remaining four nights. The attached photos show the gap in the single bed and the double bed made up each day by the local maid for three people. At checkout I asked the owner to consider lowering the price since we’d all had to share one bed. She said the bed was fine and wouldn’t consider a discount. She offered €10 off for the laundry she had done for us.

The hosts were helpful and friendly. Our room was modern, very clean, and comfortable, and we had a nice view.
