The food is beautifully presented, and the staff are highly attentive. My only wish would be for the restaurant to follow the vineyard’s example and go 100% organic. 🌱 The wines were a real highlight for me. I loved the whites, especially the unusual, eco-friendly Sauvignier Gris, and the red Olivin, an award-winning Zweigelt with deep, complex flavors. And no need to worry, the wine is organic. For a great outing, pick up a picnic basket at the restaurant and fill it with wine and cold charcuterie, or, pro tip, hot chicken nuggets. Then find a spot anywhere in the 30 hectares vineyard and enjoy. Ahhhh, so good... can you feel it? 😍 A visit at Schloss Kapfenstein is a classic WINe-WIN situation 💯. And that view? Just listen to Ed Sheeran’s "castle on the hill". Nothing more to add.

The guest room and breakfast room have stunning views. The place is very well maintained, the service is very good, and dinner was excellent, with a good selection of wine.

I’m already looking forward to coming back. I’ve been staying here for 17 years, and it’s always a fantastic place. The rooms have antiques, while the mattresses, bedding, and bathrooms are new. There are also 2 Tesla charging stations in the car park now, so guests with electric vehicles can charge up. The staff are incredibly friendly, and you can expect a warm Styrish welcome. The restaurant is one of the best in Styrmark, and I’m sure Hobbits would feel right at home there. Staying in a 1000 year old fortress, overlooking an idyllic landscape that reminds me of Tolkien Shire, gives you all the history you could ask for.

A beautiful place with a historic feel and one of the best vineries in Styria. Try the different grapes. Even the red wines grow here to an extraordinary quality.
