Pension Abendruh

Pension Abendruh in Kaprun is in a good location and reasonably priced, but you can find better value elsewhere. The Dutch management weren’t very friendly. We arrived at 9, but they refused to serve breakfast, which runs from 7-9. The mattresses and sheets were uncomfortable, and the double bed was two separate beds pushed together, which wasn’t ideal for a couple. There weren’t any electrical outlets in either the bathroom or the bedroom, which was inconvenient.

The old apartment was in extremely poor shape. There was mold in the corners and on the walls, cobwebs throughout, and hair on the windowsill. The windows let in drafts, which made it uncomfortable in cold weather, and the fridge kept making strange noises. The toilet was old and unhygienic, with maintenance and basic cleaning clearly lacking. The fold-out bed collapsed several times during the night, leaving us without sleep. Ski storage was another letdown. There was only a heater, with no ski stands or suitable storage for skis and gear. Breakfast was minimal, disappointing, and short on fresh or high-quality products, just the bare necessities and a feeling of being rushed through. For the price, this guesthouse fell far short of expectations. The poor condition, lack of cleanliness, and inadequate facilities made the stay a complete disappointment. I strongly advise against staying here.

The three of us were happy with our stay. The breakfast had fresh fruit and vegetables, and both savory and sweet options, so there was something for everyone. We enjoyed the view and the peace, and the center was close by. The boss was kind and gave advice. When he didn’t know an answer, he called to find out. My one small complaint is that there was no fridge. One would be useful in summer. Thanks.

We had to leave a day early because several unpleasant things spoiled the stay. Due to overbooking, our room was in a different house 100 meters away from the rest of the family, so we had to walk back and forth for breakfast and to see them. The first night, we slept on mattresses on the floor because the bed frame was broken. Our room wasn’t cleaned or tidied at all during our seven-day stay, and by day three or four you can imagine what it was like. When we mentioned it, they left two clean towels on the floor in front of the entrance, which felt rather rude. A real shame.
