Bergfeuerhof

The bread roll service, often with fresh eggs, was a treat and we used it almost every day. Our 8-year-old was especially thrilled by the goats, rabbits, and chickens. As city dwellers, we were a little surprised by the size of the enclosures, but seeing our child so happy was priceless. Edith was always available with answers and excursion tips, and the activity information provided could easily fill two weeks. The setting at Bergfeuerhof in Kaunertal is quiet and beautifully surrounded by nature, a lovely break from everyday life. The rooms are traditional and practical, great if you’re out most of the day. For three people over 14 days, though, it can feel a bit cramped when the weather is mixed. We appreciated that the heating was switched on when we asked, since August nights sometimes dropped to 7 degrees. We northerners had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in beautiful surroundings. Compared with Austria’s often exorbitant prices, Bergfeuerhof offers excellent value for money.

I’ve stayed at Bergfeuerhof several times, and each visit has been relaxing and enjoyable. The peaceful setting and lovely surroundings make it easy to unwind. Edith is so welcoming that you feel at home right away, and the whole family is wonderfully hospitable. One especially lovely memory is of their very friendly son, Matthias, showing me around the stable and introducing me to all the animals. It made my visit even more special. If you want somewhere comfortable and friendly where you can relax, I can highly recommend it.

We’ve stayed in this vacation apartment twice now and would definitely recommend it. It’s wonderfully peaceful, with a beautiful view from the balcony. The farm animals are a lovely experience, especially for kids, and the hosts gave us such a warm welcome that we felt right at home.

The mountain scenery is stunning, no question, but the apartment and its surroundings didn’t match the description for us. The little kitchen was the only living space, and its tiny ceiling window offered no view. One bedroom felt more like a closet. We didn’t feel like we were having a farm holiday. We knew the cows were up on the mountain pasture, but the goats were sick, there were no pigs, and the only other animals were some chickens and a rabbit in a very small, dirty cage. There was hardly any chance to watch or experience the animals. If you want a farm holiday with children, I’d look elsewhere.
