Gasthof Pension Falkeis

We booked dinner ahead for our family of 12, and it was a really bad experience. There were two vegetarians and a vegan among us, so we emailed to ask if the restaurant could prepare something for them. They said they’d work something out, but when we called the day before, we were suddenly told it wasn’t possible anymore. The daughter kindly tried to find a meal for our vegan guest, but the owner was rude when we arrived and bluntly told us to stop talking. They did make a vegan plate in the end, but it was meager: boiled potatoes, carrots, green beans, and bland boiled mushrooms. The rest of us had decent food, nothing special but not bad, so it was surprising they couldn’t manage something better. As a chef, I’d expect them to be more capable of preparing a meal on the spot. The owner kept giving us dirty looks for the rest of the evening. It was a bad night for all of us.

The rooms are simple, practical, and warm, with lovely mountain views around the Gasthof. My wife and I ate at this excellent restaurant during the last week of January 2019. The service was friendly and efficient, and they made us feel at home away from home. The food was outstanding: traditional Tyrolean cooking raised to a whole new level by the cook. We won’t forget the experience, and hope to return soon.

We’ve just had another fantastic stay at this beautiful place. It really feels like our second home. Barbara and Rudolf looked after us so thoughtfully throughout, and the food is fantastic. You have to taste it to understand how delicious it is, especially the way the chef presents it. The friendly staff create a great atmosphere, and Ines, you’re amazing. The staff were friendly and even stayed open so we could finish without being rushed. We had Tyrolean specialties, but the food didn’t feel heavy. Everything was homemade, with excellent soups and vegetarian choices.
