Landhotel Lechner

Barbara Lechner was the highlight of the service here. She explained the local area when I arrived, gave me guide maps and brochures, answered all sorts of questions, and helped plan my itinerary. I arrived with little preparation, and her help made my Kitzbuhel alps trip exceptional. Her family even offered rides to and from Kirchberg train station, about a 25 minute walk away. I declined out of courtesy. As an American who didn’t speak German, I especially appreciated Barbara being available to help. The hotel is also called "Gasthaus Spertendorf," and the owners are the Lechners. If you speak English, you’ll probably deal with Barbara Lechner. The price is very low for the quality, and I’m already arranging another visit. I asked for a balcony room and got one at no extra cost. I could step outside any time and see the mountains all around. The room was comfortable, though small. The traditional building was enchanting, and I loved the Austrian woodwork and pine smell. There didn’t seem to be air conditioning, but leaving the balcony door cracked cooled the room well. Wi-Fi was fast and free, and the views of the Alps were panoramic in every direction. Breakfast was a delicious gourmet buffet, clearly sourced from local farms and providers. The hotel also serves dinner. I’d signed up at first, but changed my mind because I wasn’t sure I could get back in time. The menu changed daily and looked excellent, with classic Tirolean fare. You get a reserved table, nicely set, with wonderful mountain views.

We’re looking forward to coming back in the near future, sitting on the terrace that’s sadly closed right now, and having a good dinner and beer. It’s a very cozy, comfortable hotel, and the owners are really nice, especially during the current situation.
