Hotel Palais Porcia

The decor is breathtaking, with beautiful furnishings throughout, and the breakfast room is astonishingly tasteful. Sitting there was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so I recommend booking breakfast. The hotel is opposite the tourist information office, where you can hire bikes. The price includes a tourist card with 20% off bike hire, 50% off boat trips and discounts at museums and elsewhere. The overall stay was positive, and I can recommend it with a few reservations. Bathroom water pressure was poor, and the shower is over a bath with a curtain instead of a glass partition. Our room had water damage, with the wet parquet flooring raised. The local car park costs 19€ per day, so factor that into your budget, and contact the hotel before driving into it. The hotel itself feels like a French palace in the middle of Klagenfurt.

Christian, the concierge, was wonderful. He helped with walking directions and food, and told us about the region’s history, almost like a tour guide. The hotel is a beautiful historic building in the heart of the city, with parking beneath the square. We had a wonderful stay.

The room was spacious, modern, lovely and clean, and breakfast had lots of delicious choices. Reception staff were great, though we had to wait a bit despite arriving for an early check-in; it wasn’t a major issue. The location was especially good, and we had a good experience overall. We’ll definitely use Hotel Palais Porcia again.

A really atmospheric and interesting place, with a luxurious interior in a beautiful historic building on the city’s central square. The staff were very hospitable. Stay here if you want to feel like a prince or princess.
