Hotel-Pension Goldenberg

Great.

We only stayed because our company had booked the room. Never again. The toilet was filthy, there was mold in the shower, cobwebs on the walls, and the bed frames were missing slats or had broken ones. The beds themselves were worn out too. And they insisted we remove our shoes at the main entrance so we wouldn't make a mess. They're crazy. I have no idea where they got their stars. It's an outrage and an imposition on every guest. An absolute dump.

The beds were good, and the small room was fine for one night. Breakfast was okay. But it was very noisy right by the main road, and the green oasis in the photo is right next to that road. I can't imagine anyone would choose to sit there voluntarily. The bathroom was very old and not very clean.

We booked because it was the closest place to a family gathering. For the next big get-together, I don't yet know where we'll stay, but I'd rather go home the same day than return. I can't understand how it still gets three stars. The reception alone is up many steep steps, and some rooms mean climbing even more, so it's absolutely unsuitable for older people. The building is run-down and doesn't deserve a three-star rating. The TVs don't work, the wardrobe looks so dilapidated I was afraid to touch it in case it collapsed, and there was mold in the bathroom and ancient, yellowed down bedding. Maybe it was a nice guesthouse for young people near Vienna 20 years ago, but nothing has been done to improve it since.
