The location and hotel itself are beautiful, and the spa was a real highlight: clean, well kept, and staffed with excellent service once we got inside. My friend and I spent a weekend here, but the experience was mixed. The room was clean, yet uncomfortably hot with no way to adjust the temperature, possibly because of a central hotel setting. The shower drain cap had been left inside the shower with no explanation, so water flooded the bathroom. We cleaned it up ourselves and asked for fresh towels. The receptionist seemed visibly annoyed, didn’t send housekeeping, gave us just two small towels instead of the large ones we asked for, and left the soaked towels there. Before arrival, email replies came only after our third follow-up, and some service information was unclear or wrong. For spa massages, we were told to book online, but the system was closed for Saturday and Sunday. Someone then said they’d call us back, but nobody did. At dinner, the restaurant staff were kind and polite, though they looked extremely stressed. On Sunday evening we were told the restaurant was closed and the bar only served sandwiches. That seemed to apply just to us, since two nearby tables were served full cheese and cold-cut platters. At the end of the evening we wanted to buy bottles of wine and liqueur to take away. A staff member, again visibly annoyed, said the cash register was already closed, which was surprising for a hotel in this category. When we said we were disappointed, her attitude changed and she offered to take card payment. The service outside the spa didn’t meet what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel or an international hotel group. Jonathan, the bartender we met on Saturday, was extremely kind, attentive, and professional, and really focused on customer care. He took time to answer our questions and explain things reception should normally handle. He made our weekend. Thanks as well to M. Friedel at reception, who was pleasant, professional, and competent at check-out and left us with a much better final impression.

We only had one night, so there wasn’t enough time to enjoy all the hotel’s areas. The service was excellent and kind, and the hotel is wonderful. It’s worth visiting the spa and exploring around. Definitely an excellent hotel, highly recommended.

The roof terrace bar was the one real plus, with nice views. The pool was too small and crowded, and the hotel food felt fussy and overpriced, so dinner meant going into town. We booked a junior suite with a Danube view, but got a long, dark room with a sofa and a view of bushes instead. The hotel isn’t actually in Krems, and it’s a good 20 minute walk away, downhill going there and an uphill hike on the way back. There are very few taxis, so you could get stuck. Most staff were friendly, but one or two weren’t helpful. Better to stay somewhere else and come here for a drink.

The room was clean enough, the location was nice, and the staff were very friendly. But the outdoor pool area was a disaster. We stayed on the 20th of April, a warm day that would have been lovely for sitting by the pool, but the water was dirty and murky, and we had to look at it the whole time. At minimum, the hotel could have cleared out the rotting leaves, or told us about the pool’s condition. The booking photos were very misleading, and we wouldn’t have booked if we’d known. The hotel says it’s ‘pet friendly’, but our small dog had to stay in the room and wasn’t even allowed in the outdoor seating area. €49 euro per person for a buffet is also very expensive in my opinion, so we ordered food from outside instead. The staff were great, but the management of steigenberger hotel at krems really needs to get its priorities straight. We definitely wouldn’t come back.

We hosted most of our wedding guests here. The rooms and locations were phenomenal, and the service was almost perfect. There were a few problems with the group room reservations, but staff dealt with them efficiently. The spa was great, and we heard lots of compliments about the breakfast buffet.
