Weinhof-Gstehaus Maier

My favorite stop so far on our ride from Passau to Budapest. The guesthouse is a little away from the cycle path, but easy to reach, and there's a couple of places to eat within walking distance. Set among fruit orchards and vineyards, it's peaceful, with a lovely room and balcony facing the orchards. We could manage with the owners despite knowing very little German, and they were welcoming. There's a fridge where you can buy their own wines and juices, nice to enjoy on the balcony at sunset. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade juices and jams and other locally sourced products. A beautiful place for a relaxing night, highly recommend it.

Really good place to stay. The host was polite and nice, breakfast was good, and the fruit orchard setting is quiet and beautiful. The only small issue was sound passing between rooms. You could hear louder guests at night.

Weinhof Gästehaus Maier made a great base for visiting the area's wine regions, with easy access to hiking and sightseeing. The Maier family are wonderful hosts, and the property was very clean, well equipped, and easy to get to. I stayed there in October 2022 and would gladly return. Their own wines deserve a mention too, well-made and delicious examples of the region. I'd love to be back in my room, having breakfast in the sunny dining room or enjoying a glass on the room patio.

A lovely garden view, and they also offer locally made wine, marillen nectar, and jams.
