Hotel Pension „Schöne Aussicht“

The calm mountain scenery and fresh air made for a wonderfully relaxing setting. At Hotel-Pension "Schöne Aussicht", the staff stood out for their care and service. They welcomed me warmly at check-in and offered personal suggestions for local hikes and attractions. I was impressed by how thoughtfully they looked after each part of my stay.

The location is lovely and well away from roads and even the city center. We had a nice mountain view from our rooms, though the balconies were shared. There was a good breakfast, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, an interesting lobby, and a vending machine for late-night cravings. The kids loved the bunk beds and playing with the big chess pieces outside. Having an elevator was a welcome and unusual bonus. The stay itself was stressful because of the booking. We reserved many months ahead, then the booking was canceled one week before our stay for a reason we still don’t understand. We booked the place again, but the hosts weren’t welcoming, to put it mildly. We’ve stayed in Austria and places like this before, but this was the first time we felt unwanted from check-in. A few other things we didn’t like: the balconies are shared with guests we didn’t know, the room was a bit dark and quite small for a family of four, and paying by credit card added a 1% charge.

The hotel matched the pictures exactly, and the room was clean. The staff were attentive and accommodating. I arrived very late, but they left my key in a key box, which made checking in easy. The hotel sits in breathtaking scenery, though it’s uphill and somewhat isolated from town, so you need a car. Don’t miss the nearby waterfalls, they’re amazing.

We spent two nights here during a family road trip. The rooms were spacious, the location was good, and breakfast was excellent. The owners were very kind.
