Bergkristall

Bergkristall never lets me down. My only reservation is that there’s no longer a bathtub where I can soak after long hours of skiing.

The location on the mountain is a real plus, with ski lifts right there, but our eight-night stay at Bergkristall left us feeling unwelcome. We were told on arrival that we should have mentioned our dog in advance, even though dogs are allowed. He is a service animal and needs to stay with me, but we were first put in a room where dogs weren't permitted. We'd unpacked before being told to move to a smaller dog-friendly room. The owner also made me feel discriminated against because we were first-time guests who booked through booking.com, implying we shouldn't get the same treatment as long-standing customers. At breakfast the next morning, I had my ski boots in a bag and was asked if there was a dog inside. That felt inappropriate. We were also scolded for asking for a few extra digital room keys. I was told off for keeping my skis in the room to get them ready for waxing, and the receptionist was rude and sarcastic when she saw me with them the following day. We were charged 15 euros for taking my daughter's breakfast back to our room in a package, something I've never come across at another hotel. Given what we paid for the accommodation, we expected a much better experience.

The walk from the Bergbahn to Bergkristall was short and easy. We had lunch outside with a lovely view of Oberlech, and the sunshine was beautiful today. The tomahawk steak, lobster pasta, and pot of mussels were great too. I'll be back for more!

The Wrann family and their employees are so welcoming, and the food is excellent. There are plenty of wellness activities here, and our grandchildren, aged 3 and 4, were very welcome too. A top hotel in every way. We'll return next year!
