Hotel Anemone

Dinner was a highlight, with an excellent restaurant and huge portions. The location made it easy to get to the mountains and just a short walk to the village. There are lots of activities for teenagers, including snooker and ping pong, and the sauna is amazing.

The staff were lovely overall, and when we mentioned the noise from one room near the shared games area, they listened and sorted it out. The location is great too, but I came away a bit disappointed with the experience. The rooms were just okay. One was very dated and had a poor shower. Breakfast tasted good, but the hot food was drying out under a heat lamp set too high. For a 4-star hotel, I’d expect someone to take tea and coffee orders, plus options like an omelette or boiled egg. Service at breakfast sometimes felt rushed, and no one explained the ordering system. On our first morning we sat down and nobody came over. Having to choose dinner at breakfast was another letdown. I’ve stayed in plenty of similar hotels and hadn’t encountered that before. You often end up wishing you’d chosen something else by the evening. Dinner itself was poor in my opinion. The menu included fish and chips and turkey sweet and sour curry, among other odd dishes. The portions were generous, but the quality didn’t match the price. Salad was good, dessert was often good, and the cheese selection was great. It also felt cheeky to count a side plate of bread as a course. The bar needs someone dedicated to it, instead of a staff member running in from the restaurant every two minutes. Avoid this place if you have an intolerance or allergy. I told the hotel weeks ahead, but the waiter and other staff had no idea what to do. The first dish they brought after I mentioned it still contained the allergens, and on one evening someone at our table got only prawns as a main. EDIT: Thanks for responding. The breakfast ordering setup was never explained to us. I understand if the booking company failed to pass on the allergy information, and I’ll check that, but the hotel was told when we checked in. A mix-up on night one might be understandable, but not having it sorted by night five was poor. I’ve worked in hospitality for over 10 years, so I don’t think this is overcritical. I hope you can fix these things, because then it would feel like a 4-star hotel instead of a 3-star stay at a 4-star price. Having lived in Austria and stayed in many local hotels, I was surprised by how few Austrian dishes there were. The main issue was how the food was prepared.

Everything felt clean, cozy and comfortable, and the experience was incredible. The owners and hotel staff were so kind and accommodating. We’ll definitely stay again!

We were 11 people, seven adults and four young children, and absolutely loved Anemone. The location was great. Pretty much everyone could ski out, though we carried one child on skis. You can ski in if you’re able to go up a chair lift. Otherwise, it’s a short walk.
