Hotel und Chalet Montana

Hotel Montana is one of those places you’re always glad to come back to. The food is consistently good, and the hospitality is excellent. Many of the team return season after season and remember you, which makes the stay feel personal and special. Barney deserves a thumbs up, a real star!

I stopped in for lunch at the restaurant, and it was excellent, the best place I ate in Lech.

We were skiing and stopped for lunch, but were extremely disappointed by how the restaurant handled my partner’s severe dairy allergy. We explained the allergy clearly to our waiter and checked three times that the dish would be dairy-free. After checking with the kitchen, he confirmed that it was. The vegetables had butter on them. When we asked why they tasted buttery, we were told they were dairy-free. Then, after my partner had started eating, the waiter rushed over and told us to stop because the kitchen had failed to meet our request. This was a deeply disappointing and unsafe experience for a restaurant of this standard. The carelessness could have had serious health consequences, and we’d expect much more diligence and understanding when an allergy has been confirmed repeatedly. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone with food allergies.

Sad! We’ve been coming to Lech since the 1990s and have enjoyed lunch on the beautiful terrace at Hotel-Restaurant Montana in Oberlech all these years. In the last few years, though, the quality has clearly been slipping. This year was especially disappointing. Both our shrimp pasta and the Wiener schnitzel were extremely poor, nowhere near acceptable for a four-star hotel, especially at those impressive prices. Poor food!
