We were in a modern, clean apartment for a week in winter, and the pool and sauna were good too. The location is great, right by the ski school and close to the lift, and the service was friendly and helpful. A couple of things could be better: the ski room and shoe room are on opposite sides of the hotel, and there’s no washing machine. We didn’t use the hotel rooms, café, restaurant, or breakfast, so I can’t comment on those. Still, the five stars are well deserved.

The food fell short of what it should have been, even though it seemed clear the kitchen can make excellent meals. The hotel and rooms are nice, and the facilities are good. Having the ski and boot rooms at opposite ends of the hotel is inconvenient. We also could have used more help from the staff. One person at reception couldn’t tell us where the ski room was or which lift was closest. When we asked for a taxi for our departure, they didn’t book one.

We’d had a pleasant visit a few days earlier, stopping in for latte macchiatos after dropping my nephews at the nearby ski school. A friendly lady served us, and the restaurant looked clean, modern, and professional. No complaints that time. On 15-3-2019, around 11 in the morning, we came back for a drink with one of the boys after picking him up. I walked in holding my nephew’s skis and hadn’t noticed. The man there told us to take them outside. Fair enough, I apologized and handed them to my mother, who set them in the hallway corner, outside the restaurant but still inside the building. He then came over and said the skis had to be outside. We may have misunderstood what he meant because of the language barrier, but we understood enough German, and the way he said it, something like “I already told you to put them outside,” came across as rude. We apologized again and put them outside. We asked for latte macchiatos, but he said they only had cappuccino. We ordered cappuccinos instead. Maybe they really didn’t have latte macchiatos at the time, and perhaps cappuccinos are less work to make. That wasn’t a big deal, but again, it was how he spoke to us. When we finished, my mother tried to pay by debit card and was told it wasn’t possible. We know cash is often preferred in Austria for small amounts because of card transaction costs, and the bill was low. She said she had nothing else to pay with. He replied with something like, “Then that’s bad luck for you.” I definitely heard “pech,” which means bad luck in both German and Dutch. My sister had had enough and paid cash so we could leave. I understand preferring cash for a small bill. He could have explained that politely, or added a charge if that was an option. Saying it was our bad luck was unnecessary. I’m not a guest at this hotel, and this review isn’t meant to judge the hotel or restaurant overall. Our first visit was actually very good, so please bear that in mind. This is about that employee, the tall man with a beard and tattoos on both lower arms. I’d suggest he find work without customer contact, or take a customer service workshop. I own a shop and deal with customers every day. A different tone and a few different words really do make a difference.

We stayed in a two-bedroom place with a huge hallway and a big bathroom. It was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the ski lift is very close.
