The food was absolutely delicious, just like Mom’s, and the hostess was wonderful. It felt like staying with family, and we were immediately at home. There’s also a frequent bus that guests can use for free, so you don’t always need the car. We’ll definitely return.

The food was plentiful, with an all-you-can-eat salad and raw vegetable buffet in the evenings. We booked half-board and highly recommend it. The hostess works hard to vary the menu each day and is happy to accommodate requests. It features vegetables from the garden, meat from a local farmer, game from their own lease, and homemade jams and cakes. During our stay, staff shortages meant there wasn’t a regular menu, but we didn’t miss it; we were perfectly happy, though I can’t say whether one is usually available. The rustic rooms were comfortable and clean, there’s parking in front, and a drying room for wet motorcycle gear and shoes. It’s a lovingly furnished, historic building, run by a warm and friendly hostess. The accommodation is pleasantly quiet despite being right on the road, and makes an ideal base for hiking, cycling, and motorcycle tours in the Gail Valley, between Tyrol and Carinthia. Tre Cime di Lavaredo is just under an hour away by motorcycle, and Slovenia’s Vršič Pass in Triglav National Park is just under two hours away.

Marieanna is a wonderful hostess, and the food is varied and delicious. The regulars make newcomers feel welcome right away. Anyone who loves East Tyrol will love the Wacht too. We’re already looking forward to many more holidays here.

The rooms were very clean, and the bed was wonderful. After Corsica and Italy, it was a welcome change from the usual places, and we felt genuinely comfortable. The hostess was kind and helpful, welcomed us with a complimentary drink, found parking for my moped, and gave us useful tips for the next day. Thanks so much, and see you next time!
