Such warm hospitality............

Everything in the accommodation was clean, and the hostess was nice and tried to help, though we didn’t ask for much. There’s a ski boot dryer for five pairs and you can order breakfast. We were close to three or four resorts, all 10-20 minutes away, but getting there meant driving rather than taking the ski bus. Tamsweg is 7 km away and has a nice swimming pool with a water slide, a small whirlpool, and hardly anyone there. We would have liked ski area information and prices when we arrived. We ended up going to the info center, whose hall was open even though it was closed, and found the flyers by chance. Communication wasn’t always easy: our German is weak and the lady doesn’t speak English. There weren’t quite enough bowls or deep plates for five of us, though the apartment is meant for two or three. The older kettle doesn’t switch itself off and only holds enough for two small cups, so we boiled water in a pot. We also didn’t fully understand that the included wellness access was free for three hours a day. Children under 14 aren’t allowed in, and you have to move around without swimwear. I can see why younger children couldn’t do that, and I didn’t mind; even the 16-year-olds only needed to go once. In the evenings we couldn’t air out the room because someone was smoking under our window. We don’t know if it was the landlady or a guest.
