Goldried Park Matrei in Osttirol

The setting is beautiful, and the hotel is really neat. The pools are huge and modern, and the restaurant is good, though service was a bit slow. Our room could use some work: the toilet was cracked, some bathroom wall tiles were loose, and the shower drained so slowly it nearly overflowed if we used it for too long. The kitchenette had been updated, though.

We booked for 14 people and were given apartments that felt like villas, with all the equipment we needed. From the room, the view was fantastic. The location was lovely too, with the whole Matrie Village set among the mountains.

The apartments have a good kitchen, though there’s no microwave, and each one has a sauna. The indoor and outdoor swimming areas are free to use, while the spa costs extra. It’s a wonderful place for families and friends. If you’re looking to party, it might not be your first choice. The hotel’s location is lovely.

The rooms are a little older, but they were clean and comfortable. The wellness area looks newly renovated, with a fresh, modern feel, and the rooftop infinity pool has a lovely view over the town and mountains. Staff were very friendly, the restaurant food was really good, and breakfast had a huge selection. We thought it was very good value, and they even let us use the spa after checkout at no extra charge. We’d happily stay again.
