The location worked well for skiing in Matrei and Kals, and for walks or trips to places like Lienz. We had a really enjoyable stay at this gasthof: the food was excellent, the service was great, and everyone was so nice. We also spent a lovely time with the owner. Thanks for all your work and the care you put into every part of it.

The beds could have been more comfortable, and the duvets felt damp. Even so, I’d happily return for the food and the wonderful staff. Every dish tasted like it had been made with years of cooking experience and a lot of love. After around 100 visits to Austria, I don’t think I’ve eaten better there. Our little room had a nice view, and I’d very much recommend the place.

The quiet, beautiful setting was a real pleasure, and the place is clearly popular with locals. The owners made us feel like old friends. They serve Austrian food made with produce from their own farm or nearby farms. Highly recommended.

We loved our three nights with half board. The rooms were warm and cozy, with a nice bathroom and enough space for three people and all our ski luggage. There’s also a heated room for storing ski gear. Breakfast and dinner were both amazing, and the staff were attentive and quick to respond to anything we needed. You do need a car to reach the ski areas: Grossglockner was five minutes away, and St. Jakob about 25 minutes. The resorts had wide, very well-maintained slopes and were quiet, so we really enjoyed the ski holiday. They’re all covered by one ski pass. A great base for skiing at Grossglockner, St. Jakob, or Hochpustertal.
