Alpenhotel Edelweiss

The room stayed pleasantly cool even at the height of summer, despite there being no air conditioning. Staff were friendly, and the hotel is within walking distance of the lake and a supermarket, right beside the cable car. Breakfast could have been better. There was also a staff member's birthday party that carried on into the early hours and got quite noisy.

The gondola station is right next door, which is handy for mountain trips, and cycle paths to the lake and routes up to the alpine pastures are close by too. We had a three-night half-board deal that suited us well. The rooms are dated, but clean. Breakfast and dinner were tasty, and there was plenty to eat.

Lunch was really good, with huge portions and homemade fries, and our waitress was very nice. The frustrating part came when she brought the bill and kept saying we had to pay cash because she couldn't change the transaction in the system. For a 50 Euro meal, paying by card shouldn't become a discussion. Could she not cancel the bill and make a new one? I didn't want to cause a scene, so I went to the car to look for spare cash.

The place seems fairly priced to me, and I didn't have any major issues. It's quiet enough, with clean, decent-sized rooms, plenty of parking, and nice views. The receptionist spoke English and Russian as well as German. I didn't try the food downstairs. The wifi cuts in and out and isn't very strong, the mattress could be better, and I suppose the TV could be bigger.
