Villa Postillion am See

The double room with balcony was immaculate, and the view was truly beautiful. The pool was nice and warm and open for most of the day. There are dedicated parking spaces opposite the hotel, and the hotel normally provides a parking slip. I also saw wooden boats there, perhaps worth asking the hotel whether they can be used to explore the lake. The staff were warm and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The house manager was around at both breakfast and dinner, looking after guests and being very friendly. Breakfast was really nice, especially the good bread. We also ate dinner at the restaurant, which was a real bargain at €18 per person. I suspect those may have been "coming out of lockdown" prices to draw in more guests. We paid close to €160 for the double room with breakfast. There's an electric sauna by the lake, but you have to book a time slot before using it.

The first night's dinner arrangement was inconvenient. Reception told us the hotel's chef was having a party and the restaurant was being used for it, so guests had to walk to the sister hotel. We also had trouble finding a parking spot because of that. Dinner quality could be much better. For example, the calamari in the pasta was really tiny. Half board is okay if you're not particular about food. We liked our room's superb view of Millstattersee. Breakfast was good, and the short-haired service lady without glasses was very friendly and attentive.

Gorgeous scenery, warm hospitality, a lake, a sauna, a heated outdoor pool, and snowy Alpine peaks. What a beautiful place. I recommend it!
