This is an excellent base for winter sports. The hotel sits a little above Riezlern, with a lovely view, and the center is about a five minute walk away. You can ski from the hotel to the gondola, which goes high up the mountain, and return on the valley run. The ski area isn't huge, but the runs are beautiful and it's good for a short stay. Other ski areas are easy to reach nearby. Our room was very good, with a living room, separate bedroom and shower/bath. Everything was excellent. Breakfast had a decent selection, and the wine list was very varied. There's no evening meal and the hotel doesn't offer much else in the way of luxury. A large room with a sun terrace is available for breakfast or relaxing. The host is very friendly. The hotel is locked between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, so remember your key. Wi-Fi took a bit of effort to connect to, though we mostly used the large room later. The village has a small center, supermarket, banks and a few restaurants with good menus. If you're after daytime or evening entertainment, there's little at the hotel. For winter sports, though, it's excellent accommodation. This corrects my earlier post, where I gave only one star. We and our dog were welcomed warmly and looked after throughout our two nights at this small mountain hotel. The setting is gorgeous and very quiet, while the village is still close enough to reach on foot if you want to leave the car behind in the evening. The owner was incredibly friendly, and the cable car ticket came with the stay. Breakfast was excellent, and the rooms were clean and comfortable with a lovely view. The bathroom, though, was rather small and dated. All in all, a fantastic stay.

I want to warn customers to check directly with the hotel about the mountain railway ticket before booking. I booked through the Kleinwalsertal website after receiving an offer from the hotel that said the ticket was included. The booking confirmation then showed it was valid only from 4:00 PM on arrival day until 10:00 AM on departure day, so I cancelled immediately. The time restriction wasn't mentioned until the confirmation. I had submitted an inquiry through the Kleinwalsertal website and received an offer that also said the mountain railway ticket was included. Now I have a lawsuit and a judgment ordering me to pay for the room, court costs and legal fees. I didn't attend the court hearing in Austria because I didn't have time, and I'll probably have to pay almost €500 including court costs instead of €240 for a cancelled room. The Kleinwalsertal website advertises the ticket as included, but in my case it wasn't included for the full stay.

The owner has a good sense of humour, the staff are friendly, and the breakfast was both high quality and had a great selection. The hotel is clean, beautiful and cosy, right by the ski slopes. We also loved the two dogs and would gladly come back.
