We’ve made it to Hotel Sonnenhof for the third year running, staying in Landhaus Maxi, a separate building from the hotel. It’s very cozy and clean, with free parking and Wi-Fi, a very good breakfast, and delicious dinner. It’s also close to Mittelberg and Riezlern. When traveling with friends in separate rooms, the shared living room is a nice place to gather. We’d definitely recommend it to friends.

The restaurant was packed, but we managed to get a table. I ordered a medium rump steak and it came mostly overcooked, so I wanted to send it back. The waiter heard my complaint and took the plate away. Then the manager brought back the sliced steak and confronted me. Whatever someone’s view of a medium steak, speaking to a customer that rudely is unacceptable. I’ve never experienced that before. I still tipped the waiter, but I won’t be going back to this restaurant.
The food was very good and nicely prepared, with a good choice on the menu and everything presented beautifully. The place has a cozy feel and the staff are super friendly. Even late in the evening, outside guests are welcome. During peak season, book a table, since the hotel is always full and all the tables get taken.
The terrace has a really impressive view. We came for dinner, and both the trout, expertly filleted, and the asparagus cream soup with asparagus pieces and strips of salmon were excellent. Everything suited us perfectly, and we'd definitely come back.
